Vietnam shares development experience, champions win-win cooperation
VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh shared Vietnam’s development experience and its commitment to fostering inclusive and sustainable cooperation within ASEAN, while addressing the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ASEAN BIS) 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on October 26.
The summit, themed “Unifying Markets for Shared Prosperity,” is the region’s largest business forum held alongside the 47th ASEAN Summit. The event brought together more than 1,500 delegates, including ASEAN leaders, global business executives, and economic experts, to discuss policy innovation and regional economic integration amid a complex global environment.
In his address, Prime Minister Chinh outlined Vietnam’s key economic strategies amid global uncertainties such as supply chain disruptions and protectionist trends. He reaffirmed that Vietnam remains committed to maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, and ensuring major economic balances, alongside pursuing long-term growth.
According to the PM, Vietnam’s growth is driven by three key pillars - investment, exports, and domestic consumption. Public investment leads private investment; the State acts as an enabler, enterprises as pioneers, and public–private partnerships drive sustainable progress toward a prosperous nation where people enjoy happiness and well-being.
He also emphasised new drivers of growth such as green transition, digital transformation, and the creative economy, aligning economic development with environmental protection and sustainability goals.
Highlighting Vietnam’s ongoing digital transformation, the Prime Minister said the country is prioritising artificial intelligence, semiconductor production, e-commerce, logistics, and digitalisation in healthcare, education, culture, and tourism.
He stressed that digital transformation must become a nationwide movement, aiming to build a digital government, digital economy, digital society, and digital citizens. Vietnam is implementing the “Digital Literacy for All” initiative to ensure every citizen can engage in and benefit from digital transformation.
Responding to a question from Rachel Eng, member of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ABAC) Singapore, on how ASEAN can maintain its attractiveness to global investors, the Vietnamese Prime Minister underscored ASEAN’s enduring strength lies in its unity in diversity, inclusiveness, and people-centred development.
“In today’s complex geopolitical environment, ASEAN must continue to uphold its centrality, enhance regional connectivity, strengthen supply chains, and promote both hard and soft infrastructure in transport, culture, society, and digital transformation,” he said.
“We are one ASEAN family. When one member becomes stronger, the whole community grows stronger,” he affirmed. “Each country’s independence and self-reliance should go hand in hand with contributions to the region’s collective prosperity.”
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Vietnam’s readiness to share experience and cooperate in areas such as institutional reform, infrastructure development, human resources training, governance, and innovation.
He called on ASEAN countries and businesses to collaborate, share lessons, and support each other’s growth, underscoring the private sector’s vital role in connecting economies and cultures across the region.
Moderator Rachel Eng praised the Vietnamese leader’s vision, noting that his proposals aligned closely with ASEAN’s priorities for regional resilience and sustainable integration.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed Vietnam’s desire to work closely with ASEAN partners in the spirit of shared vision, shared action, and shared success toward a united, dynamic, and prosperous ASEAN.
