Vietnam ready to share legislative experience with Laos

VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue on February 28 briefed a Lao delegation on the operation of the National Assembly of Vietnam and affirmed that the Vietnamese legislature is willing to share its experience with its Lao counterpart.

The National Assembly of Vietnam wants to exchange and learn from the Lao counterpart’s good experience and effective model to make the operation of the legislature and local People’s Council more effective, Hue told Khambay Damlath, vice chairman of the National Assembly of Laos.

He praised the Lao legislature for passing important decisions and revising laws to remove difficulties facing the country and expressed his belief Laos would soon overcome all challenges and successfully implement socio-economic development programmes to build a prosperous nation with an increasing role and position in the international arena.

Khambay Damlath for his part briefed his host on the results of his earlier talks with Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Khac Dinh, and his fact-finding trips to Quang Nam, Da Nang and Hanoi to learn about the operation model of the local People’s Council.

The National Assembly of Laos will amend a number of laws related to the organization and operation of the National Assembly and the People’s Council aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of the legislature’s operations, including holding a vote of confidence for positions elected or approved by the National Assembly, he said.

During earlier talks, both sides agreed to maintain delegation exchanges, and effectively implement the signed cooperation agreement between the two National Assemblies.

They noted with satisfaction at the positive development of the cooperative ties between the two legislative bodies, especially following the Lao visit by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue. The two sides have exchanged delegations at all levels, organized seminars, and cooperated closely with each other at regional and international parliamentary forums.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Laos hoped that the National Assembly of Vietnam would support and share experience to help Laos successfully organize the tripartite summit between the heads of the legislatures of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia in 2023.

Vice chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh affirmed Vietnam always gives the highest priority to consolidating and strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Laos.

The National Assembly of Vietnam stands ready to support the National Assembly of Laos to successfully organize the first tripartite summit of the heads of the legislatures of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia in 2023, he assured his guest.
