Vietnam, Japan to hold high-level phone talks on bilateral ties on September 15
VOV.VN - State president Nguyen Xuan Phuc is scheduled to hold phone talks with Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide on September 15 to discuss issues relating to bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.
The information was unveiled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 14.
Vietnam and Japan established diplomatic relations in 1973 and they agreed to lift their relationship to an extensive strategic partnership level in 2014.
Japan is the largest ODA donor, the second largest investor, the third largest tourism partner and the fourth largest trade partner of Vietnam.
It has donated three million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Vietnam. Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi announced on September 14 that the Japanese Government will provide Vietnam with an additional 400,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
While receiving Japanese Defence Minister Kishi Nobuo in Hanoi last week, State President Phuc voiced his support for strengthening defence cooperation between Vietnam and Japan, contributing to deepening the extensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
