Vietnam introduces business opportunities in Russian city

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi on August 17 paid a working visit to the Russian city of Kaluga where he discussed with local authorities prospects of cooperation between Vietnamese and Russian localities.

During the meeting, Kaluga Governor Vladislav Shapsha noted that the economic ties between Kaluga and Vietnam have grown strongly in recent years.

Two-way trade between Kaluga and Vietnam rose fivefold over the past three years to US$315 million in 2020, making Vietnam the fifth largest trade partner of the Russian locality, said Shapsha.

According to the Governor, local businesses are keen to expand cooperation with Vietnam.

For his part, Ambassador Khoi said economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Russia has yet to develop on a par with their fine relationship. He expressed hope that Kalugar, which has great strengths in economy, industry, investment, and science-technology, will boost cooperation with Vietnam in these potential areas.

Khoi spoke highly of Kaluga’s investment incentives for Vietnamese businesses, including TH True Milk, and expected the firm’s dairy products will soon reach out to Russian consumers.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese diplomat also introduced opportunities for bilateral cooperation in coffee processing, rail transportation, and tourism. He also suggested that Kaluga in its capacity cooperate with Vietnam in the fight against COVID-19.

Governor Shapsha acknowledged the ambassador’s proposals and said he would quickly discuss with the authorities about these proposals.
