Vietnam expects with AIPA support ASEAN will make greater success
VOV.VN - State President Vo Van Thuong has expressed Vietnam’s wish that ASEAN, with support of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), will reap greater successes in building a resilient and prosperous community and promoting cooperation for common peace, stability and development.
In a message to the 44th General Assembly of AIPA, (AIPA – 44), Thuong highly appreciated the theme of the gathering that is “Responsive Parliaments for A Stable and Prosperous ASEAN” that reflects the grouping’s common aspiration for sustainable development in a peaceful and stable regional environment.
He noted with satisfaction the growing trend of AIPA over the years, making practical contributions to regional processes.
These are very proud and precious contributions to the process of building a single, and united ASEAN Community, bringing benefits for its people and its member countries, he stressed.
The President stressed that AIPA and the accompaniment of the parliaments of member countries are always an asset and a great source of encouragement to efforts of the Governments of ASEAN countries.
According to the Vietnamese President, new opportunities always go hand in hand with new challenges. Both ASEAN and AIPA, the nucleus of integration, dialogue and cooperation, should be the heart, mind and driving force for development.
He said he hopes that ASEAN backed by AIPA will succeed in promoting multilateral linkages, upholding the rule of law, and actively contributing to peace, security, stability, prosperity and sustainable development in the region and the world at large.
He reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to continuing to take part in all forums actively and effectively with a high sense of responsibility.
“I am confident that under the chairmanship of the President, the close cooperation of all member states and the careful preparation of the House of Representatives of Indonesia, the AIPA-44 General Assembly will be a great success,” he said.
