Vietnam expects to boost high-tech agriculture cooperation with India
VOV.VN - Vietnam wants to cooperate with India on hi-tech agriculture to help ensure food security, a Ho Chi Minh City leader told Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Pranay Verma on July 6.
At the meeting with the Indian diplomat, Nguyen Van Nen, secretary of the municipal Party Committee, recalled his May 2022 visit to India where senior Indian officials said agricultural cooperation helps ensure food security for not only both countries but also the region.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Verma said that India considers Vietnam an important partner in its Act East policy.
He expected that bilateral economic cooperation would be enhanced in the coming time as many Indian businesses are eyeing the Vietnamese market. He revealed that this week a group of businesses operating in the textile and garment sector is coming to Vietnam to explore opportunities.
India is also scheduled to organize the Namaste Vietnam Festival in August 2022 to promote trade and popularize Indian culture, he said.
Both host and guest agreed that Vietnam and India should further increase cooperation across various fields, from economy to tourism and culture, as the two countries hold great potential for stronger cooperation.
They underscored the importance of cultural and tourism cooperation, noting India recently organized International Day of Yoga (June 21) in many localities in Vietnam.
The two sides hoped that the erection of President Ho Chi Minh’s statue in New Delhi and Prime Minister Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Ho Chi Minh City to mark 50 years of the Vietnam - India diplomacy would help cement the fraternal friendship between the two countries.
