Vietnam expects Tanzania to soon open embassy in Hanoi
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh says he expects Tanzania will soon establish an embassy in Hanoi to further deepen diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.

Receiving Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania in Hanoi on April 30, welcomed the diplomat’s visit which coincides with the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s national reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025) and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (February 14, 1965 - 2025.
He recalled impressions during his Tanzania visit in December 2019 and expressed his belief that under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Tanzania would continue to achieve significant success in national construction and development, and in improving people’s livelihoods, especially in implementing the National Development Vision 2050.
Pleased with the positive progress in bilateral relations, the PM proposed strengthening exchanges at all levels, especially high-level visits, and boosting trade cooperation commensurate with each side’s potential and strengths, especially in digital transformation, agriculture, cybersecurity, fisheries, tourism, education, and training.
He also proposed that the two countries finalise a legal framework for bilateral cooperation, including negotiating and signing a bilateral trade agreement. He called on the Tanzanian Government to continue facilitating and supporting Viettel and other Vietnamese businesses to invest and operate effectively and sustainably, contributing to Tanzania’s development.
On this occasion, he extended an invitation from President Luong Cuong to President Samia Suluhu Hassan to visit Vietnam soon.
Kombo for his part expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s national liberation struggle and said the visit allowed him to experience the Vietnamese people’s strong patriotic spirit.
He was impressed by the powerful message delivered by General Secretary To Lam during the anniversary ceremony, especially regarding Vietnam’s future development and its responsible commitments to the international community.
Agreeing with the PM’s proposals, the Tanzanian diplomat expressed hope that more Vietnamese businesses would explore investment opportunities in Tanzania to leverage the country’s strategic gateway position to access East African markets.
To further promote cooperation, the two sides agreed to expedite negotiations and soon sign an Agreement on Investment Promotion and Protection and a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement. They also pledged to strengthen mutual understanding, cultural exchanges, and traditional education between their peoples and younger generations.
