Vietnam expects stronger strategic partnership with Japan

VOV.VN - Vietnam wants to bring the strategic partnership with Japan to new heights, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said on September 16.

Hang made the statement in response to reporters’ question regarding the election of Suga Yoshihide as the new Prime Minister of Japan.

Vietnam always attaches great importance to the friendly relationship and cooperation with Japan, Hang said.

Vietnam wishes to work closely with the new Prime Minister and the new Government of Japan to raise the extensive Vietnam-Japan strategic partnership to new heights, in the interest of the two peoples, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world, she added.

The same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc cabled a message of congratulation to Suga Yoshihide who was voted by the Japanese Diet (parliament) as the new Prime Minister of the country.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh also congratulated Motegi Toshimitsu for being re-elected as Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs in the new cabinet.

Suga Yoshihide will succeed Abe Shinzo who declared to resign on August 28.
