Vietnam, Dominican Republic parties ink cooperation document

VOV.VN - The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the United Left Movement (MIU) of the Dominican Republic on February 26 signed a cooperation document between the two parties for the 2023-2028 period.

Signatories to the document were Le Hoai Trung, member of the Party Central Committee and head of the Party Commission for External Relations, and Miguel Mejia, general secretary of the MIU and minister for Regional Integration Policies of the Dominican Republic.

Under the document, the two parties will increase delegation exchanges, exchange information about the situation of each party and country, and closely coordinate at regional and international forums of mainstream parties.

They will flexibly deploy cooperation programmes on personnel training according to the requirements and capabilities of the two side, and support and create conditions for businesses of the two countries to expand economic, trade and investment cooperation.

In the morning of the same day, authorized by the Acting State President, Le Hoai Trung, head of the Party Commission for External Relations presented the Friendship Order of the Vietnamese State MIU General Secretary Miguel Mejia.

Addressing the ceremony, Trung emphasized that the Friendship Order demonstrates the recognition and appreciation of the Party and State of Vietnam for important contributions by MIU General Secretary Miguel Mejia personally in to establishing, consolidating and developing friendly relations and good cooperation between the two parties and two states.

He also praised Mejia for practical activities the MIU General Secretary has deployed to enhance the understanding of the traditional relations and friendship between the two peoples of Vietnam and the Dominican Republic.

Mejia expressed his special honour to receive the Vietnamese Friendship Order, considering it an important motivation for the MIU, himself, and peoples around the world who are fighting for national independence, unification and development.

The Government, Congress and major political parties in the Dominican Republic attach great importance to and give high priority to strengthening relations with Vietnam, he affirmed.

He expressed his wish to continue to effectively implement activities to further contribute to the development of the traditional friendship, solidarity and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.
