Hang noted that 2020 is a special year in Vietnam-New Zealand relations as both countries are celebrating the 45th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic ties.

“Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1975, bilateral relations have developed positively and sustainably. The upgrade of the Vietnam-New Zealand relationship to a comprehensive partnership in 2009 is a milestone in promoting bilateral cooperation in various domains substantially and effectively,” the spokesperson said.

“In this regard, Vietnam wishes and pledges to work closely with New Zealand to soon bring bilateral relations to new heights in line with the joint statement released following Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s 2018 visit to New Zealand, that underlines the need to strengthen their comprehensive partnership towards a strategic partnership”.
