Minister Alsuwaidi is the UAE’s lead representative for promoting bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and the UAE.
Son welcomed Alsuwaidi’s visit and acknowledged the growing interest of major UAE corporations and businesses in exploring investment opportunities in Vietnam. He noted that these efforts concretise commitments as agreed upon by the two countries during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to the UAE in October 2024.
Alsuwaidi for his part said the UAE appreciates the outcomes of the Vietnamese PM’s visit, and emphasized that his visit is to translate commitments into tangible projects and pursue practical results.
Alsuwaidi thanked Vietnam for sending delegates to the coming 2025 World Government Summit in the UAE, where global leaders, major corporations, and scholars will discuss solutions and policies for the future of governance, technological innovation, and national management.
He expressed confidence that this coming working trip would further consolidate agreements and promote important areas of cooperation.
Alsuwaidi also highlighted UAE’s focus on high technology, artificial intelligence, energy, and logistics, stressing that Vietnam’s attractive investment environment is drawing increasing interest from UAE enterprises and investment funds.
He pledged to fulfill his role as the UAE’s lead coordinator for bilateral cooperation and expand collaboration in priority sectors for both sides.
Deputy PM Bui Thanh Son agreed with Alsuwaidi’s priorities and proposed that the two sides enhance cooperation in areas such as high technology, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, green transition and renewable energy, trade and logistics. He expected that both sides would accelerate the approval and effective implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to achieve the bilateral trade target of US$20 billion.
The Deputy PM also shared Vietnam’s plan to develop international financial centers and free trade zones, requesting UAE’s expertise in institutional development and attracting global investors for these projects.
Both sides agreed to advance several other initiatives already endorsed by their senior leaders, including the UAE’s investment in establishing a Youth Football Academy for the Hanoi Police Football Club, and a rice cultivation project in Vietnam to ensure the UAE’s food security through exports.
