Vietnam considers Poland priority partner in Central-Eastern Europe

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Quang Phuong was speaking during his talks with Deputy Speaker of the Polish Sejm (Lower House) Piotr Zgorzelski in Warsaw on March 27.

Phuong proposed that the two sides increase visit exchanges to share experience and increase cooperation in supervising and promoting the effective implementation of cooperation agreements between the Governments, ministries and localities of the two countries.

He asked Poland to soon ratify the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement, and to lobby the European Commission to remove the ‘yellow card’ warning against Vietnamese seafood products.

He also recommended that the two countries consider the possibility of resuming commercial flights to further promote tourism, trade and investment activities.

Zgorzelski for his part affirmed that the Sejm desires to foster cooperation with the National Assembly of Vietnam, contributing to facilitating cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

He welcomed Phuong’s proposals, saying the exchange of delegations between the two Parliaments will help strengthen the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries. According to the Polish lawmaker, both Poland and Vietnam and are important economic partners, but their trade and investment ties are not commensurate with the two countries’ potential.

Zgorzelski also highly appreciated the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in Poland, affirming that they act as a solid bridge for relations between the two countries.

During their talks, the two sides discussed issues of mutual concern to rev up cooperation in other fields.
