Vietnam considers Japan most important and long-term partner
VOV.VN - Vietnam always considers Japan to be its most important and long-term partner, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai told Japanese Minister Fumio Kishida during their meeting in Tokyo on May 24.
Khai, who is in Tokyo for the 29th Future of Asia Forum, said Vietnam wants to work closely with Japan to effectively implement the newly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework between the two countries, as well as agreements reached by the two countries’ Prime Ministers.
On this occasion, He conveyed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s greetings and invitation to Prime Minister Kishida to visit Vietnam soon.
Kishida for his part appreciated Vietnam’s participation and contributions to the Future of Asia Forum 2024, affirming that Japan will strive its best to develop the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership more substantively and effectively in all fields in the coming time.
Earlier the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai met with Tanaka Akihiko, president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Khai thanked the Government of Japan and JICA in particular for providing ODA to Vietnam to implement projects in the fields of infrastructure and human resource development, making an important contribution to local socio-economic development and promoting economic links between the two countries.
He suggested that Japan consider providing Vietnam with new ODA loans with preferential and simpler conditions and procedures, especially for large-scale key strategic infrastructure projects in the fields of digital transformation, green transformation, and urban railway construction, and high-quality human resource training, among others.
Tanaka thanked the Government of Vietnam for promoting progress and effective implementation of ODA loan projects, and affirmed that JICA wishes to continue ODA cooperation with Vietnam in key fields of its needs and in accordance with its legal regulations.
