Vietnam considers EU as one of most important partners

VOV.VN - Vietnam values its comprehensive partnership with the European Union, one of its most important partners, said Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan during his meeting with Woute Beke, member of the European Parliament, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on September 18.

Hoan appreciated the dynamic and comprehensive development of Vietnam–EU relations, especially the EU’s initiatives and projects that have contributed to Vietnam’s socio-economic development over the years.

He hoped the EU would continue supporting Vietnam in developing a green economy, promoting the ratification of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), lifting the “yellow card” on Vietnamese seafood, and assisting in implementing EU anti-deforestation regulations as well as fostering closer ASEAN–EU cooperation.

Beke, who is head of the EP delegation to the 46th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of the EU in the region, praising the country’s efforts in climate change response, forest protection, and the effective implementation of the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

He expressed the EU’s desire to further enhance cooperation with the region, not only in the economic sphere but also in other areas, through initiatives such as the Global Gateway and the EU’s Indo-Pacific Strategy.

Both sides agreed to strengthen delegation exchanges, expand market access, and deepen cooperation in key areas such as green transition, digital transformation, science and technology, and innovation.
