Iran vowed to take revenge on Israel for an airstrike that killed two of its generals and five military advisers at its embassy compound in Damascus.
Iran accused Israel of staying behind the airstrike, but Israel did not comment on this information.
Russia, China and Muslim countries such as Iraq, Jordan, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) all condemned the attack.
Experts feared that the airstrike could raise the risk of further escalation in conflict in the Middle East.
