Vietnam, China exchange congratulations on 73 years of diplomatic ties

VOV.VN - Vietnamese and Chinese leaders have exchanges messages of congratulation on the 73rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries (January 18).

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong exchanged a message of congratulation with Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue respectively exchanged congratulatory messages with Premier Li Keqiang and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, Li Zhanshu.

On this occasion, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son also exchanged a message of congratulation with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang.

In his address marking 73rd anniversary of Vietnam – China diplomatic ties, on behalf of the Vietnamese Party and State, Party Central Committee member and Trade Minister Nguyen Hong Dien highlighted the traditional friendship between Vietnamese and Chinese people, which was fostered by President Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam and Chairman Mao Zedong of China, as well as other generations of leaders of the two countries.

The Party, State and people of Vietnam consider the consolidation and development of the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership with China a strategic choice and top priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy, he said

Dien said both sides resumed physical contact and exchanges, including an official visit to China by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in late October and early November. They promoted the implementation of cooperation projects, and stepped up customs clearance of goods at border gates, while China licensed more Vietnamese farm products such as banana, durian, sweet potato, bird’s nest, and passion fruit to enter its huge market.

He expressed his belief that in 2023 with the determination and joint efforts of the two sides, the friendly neighbourly relations and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China will further develop in a deep, stable and sustainable manner, meeting the aspirations and practical interests of the two countries and peoples, and contributing to peace, cooperation and development of the region and the wider world.

On this occasion, Dien extended lunar New Year greetings to the peoples of Vietnam and China.

Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo highly appreciated the achievements the two countries have recorded over the past 73 years; affirming that the Chinese Party and State attach great importance to the development of a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Vietnam.

China is willing to join Vietnam in strengthening political trust, deepening substantive cooperation in various fields, and strengthen exchanges and mutual understanding, opening a new era for bilateral relations, said the Chinese diplomat.
