Vietnam calls for greater solidarity, cooperation on 80 years of United Nations
VOV.VN - Vietnam has called on the international community to strengthen solidarity, enhance cooperation, and uphold multilateralism in response to global challenges, according to a message from Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.

The message was delivered in response to an initiative by Ambassador Philemon Yang, President of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly. The online commemorative event featured remarks by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and high-level representatives from UN member states.
In his message, President Luong Cuong emphasised that over the past 80 years, the United Nations has fostered hope and faith in a peaceful, stable, and sustainably developing world. He affirmed the irreplaceable role of multilateralism and universal values such as national independence, sovereignty, justice, and social progress.
The President called on member states to reinforce cooperation, adhere to international law and the UN Charter, particularly core principles including respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, the prohibition of the use or threat of force, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
President Cuong also underlined the need for a comprehensive and far-reaching reform of the United Nations to improve its operational effectiveness and responsiveness in the face of rapidly evolving global dynamics.
Reaffirming Vietnam’s commitment, he stated that the country will remain a reliable partner and a proactive, responsible member of the United Nations, working alongside the international community to promote peace, development, and a better life for all people across the globe.
The message from President Luong Cuong, along with those of other world leaders, will be displayed at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from now until the 80th session of the General Assembly in September 2025.
