Vietnam boosts multifaceted cooperation with Algeria
VOV.VN - Lai Xuan Mon, member of the Party Central Committee and standing deputy head of the Party’s Information and Education Commission, paid a working visit to Algeria from May 14-19 to boost multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
During his stay, Mon had separate meetings with the General Secretary of the Algerian National Liberation Front Party (FLN), Chairman of the Algeria - Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, Minister of Communication, General Director of the Algerian Press Service (APS) and President of the International Association of Algerian Revolution Friends.
He briefed his hosts on Vietnam’s socio-economic development gains in recent times, and highly valued the achievements Algeria has recorded in national construction and development, as well as its increasing role in resolving regional security and political issues.
Vietnam always appreciates the support of the Algerian people in the past struggle for independence, as well as in the present cause of national construction and development, he told his hosts.
At these meetings, the Algerian leaders affirmed that Vietnam is a friend, a trusted partner of Algeria, and the Algerian people always admire President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap of Vietnam through their outstanding leadership culminating in the Dien Bien Phu Victory over French colonialism on May 7, 1954.
FLN General Secretary Abdelkrim Benmbarek noted the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Algerian FLN Party have a close relationship and historical similarities.
FLN wishes to continue to develop this relationship as well as to strengthen cooperation and exchange between the people of the two countries, he said.
Benmbarek also suggested that Algeria and Vietnam soon sign a cooperation agreement between their ruling parties to create a solid political foundation for the relationship between the two countries.
Mon for his part suggested that the two ruling parties further increase their close coordination at forums and enhance reciprocal visit exchanges to promote mutual understanding and share information and experiences.
At another meeting, Chairman of the Algeria - Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group Salah Djeghloul emphasized that the Algeria-Vietnam relations have stood the test of time over the past years and are now developing fruitfully.
Both sides agreed that they would continue to strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, promote parliamentary cooperation, and support each other at international forums, thereby contributing to enhancing prestige and position of each country.
