Vietnam backs peaceful settlement after joining Gaza Peace Council
VOV.VN - Vietnam has reaffirmed its consistent position in supporting and contributing to international efforts to resolve conflicts and disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter, after joining the Gaza Peace Council as a founding member.
At a regular press briefing in Hanoi on January 29, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said Vietnam welcomed all initiatives aimed at achieving a sustainable peace in the Gaza Strip for the benefit of the Palestinian people.
She noted that Vietnam was among the first countries to recognise the State of Palestine and has consistently supported a just and lasting solution to the Palestinian question.
Vietnam supports the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict adopted by the UN Security Council under Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025, and has accepted an invitation to participate as a founding member of the Peace Council tasked with implementing the plan, she said.
The spokesperson went on to say Vietnam would actively coordinate with other members of the Peace Council to help advance the implementation of the peace plan, contribute to ending the conflict in Gaza, and promote sustainable peace in the Middle East on the basis of the two-state solution, in line with international law, the UN Charter and relevant UN resolutions.
