Vietnam and Venezuela hold political consultation in Hanoi
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Do Hung Viet and Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Tatiana Pugh Moreno co-chaired the 10th Political Consultation between the two countries’ Ministries of Foreign Affairs, in Hanoi on December 16.
At the meeting, Viet emphasized that Vietnam highly values and seeks to strengthen its traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership with Venezuela. He praised the progress made in bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties 35 years ago (December 18, 1989) and noted the substantial potential for further cooperation in the future.
Moreno for her part affirmed that Venezuela considers Vietnam one of its most important partners. She quoted senior Venezuelan leaders’ commitment to enhancing multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in economic and trade relations to match the strong political ties between the two countries.
She also commended Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements and successful diplomacy line, viewing the country as a model of resilience and development.
Both sides acknowledged the significance of delegation exchanges and bilateral engagements at various levels, particularly when the two countries are celebrating 35 years of diplomatic relations this year.
They reviewed and discussed measures to strengthen bilateral cooperation, focusing on key areas such as trade, oil and gas, agriculture, telecommunications, construction, people-to-people exchanges, and local partnerships based on existing agreements. They agreed to step up the organization of the 4th Meeting of the Vietnam-Venezuela Intergovernmental Committee and effectively implement signed agreements while negotiating new legal frameworks to facilitate bilateral trade and investment.
The two Deputy Ministers also held in-depth discussions on regional and international issues of mutual concern. They agreed to enhance coordination and mutual support in international organizations and multilateral forums such as the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement, advocating for the legitimate interests of developing countries. They also committed to contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in Southeast Asia and Latin America.
Both sides reaffirmed their shared stance of resolving international disputes through peaceful means, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and international law.
