Vietnam and United States discuss defense cooperation

VOV.VN - Vietnamese Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang and US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin had a meeting on the sidelines of the 17th ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting in Indonesia on November 15, discussing measures to promote defense cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was focused on efforts to overcome war consequences and deploy humanitarian assistance activities such as wartime landmine clearance, dioxin decontamination, and search for personnel missing in action during the past war.

General Giang expected that US defense businesses would come and attend the second International Defense Expo to be held in Vietnam in late 2024.

Both Minister Phan Van Giang and Secretary Lloyd Austin are in Indonesia on November 15-16 for the the 17th ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) and ASEAN meetings with its dialogue partners.
