Vietnam and Switzerland promote bilateral cooperation
VOV.VN - A delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam led by Tran Quang Phuong, vice chairman of the legislature, had a working session with Dominique Bühler, vice president of the Canton Bern Parliament, and Patrick Trees, secretary general of the Canton Bern Parliament, in Geneva on March 25.
The two sides discussed parliamentary cooperation and cooperation between localities of the two countries, including the Canton of Bern, to further foster Vietnam-Switzerland relations in all spheres.
The Vietnamese officials proposed that the canton of Bern continue to support and create favourable conditions for Vietnamese expatriates in Switzerland to stabilize their lives, integrate into the local society, and promote their role as a bridge between the two countries.
Patrick Trees for his part shared about the functions, tasks and operations of the Bern Parliament Secretariat, and expected to learn about the National Assembly Secretariat of Vietnam.
The same day, the Vietnamese delegation had a working session with Alec von Graffenried, mayor of Bern.
Phuong briefed his host on the sound socio-economic development gains Vietnam has recorded during the past 38 years of Renewal, as well as the country’s development orientations.
He expressed hope that relations between Vietnam and Switzerland, between the two capitals and between localities of the two countries would continue to reap good results, contributing to peace, stability, prosperity and development.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Bern spoke highly of Vietnam’s development gains and expected to visit Vietnam to see with his own eyes that is happening in the country.
Earlier, the Vietnamese delegation made a call at the headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland, and the permanent Vietnamese mission in Geneva.
