Vietnam and Russia prepare for intergovernmental meeting this year
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Russia examined preparations for the coming Meeting of their Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Scientific and Technological Cooperation, during their online meeting held on July 9.
The online meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, chairman of the Vietnam - Russia Subcommittee, and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, chairman of the Russia - Vietnam Subcommittee.
The two sides reviewed and evaluated the implementation of the Minutes of the 24th Meeting of the Vietnam - Russia Intergovernmental Committee on Economic - Trade and Scientific and Technological Cooperation in April 2023.
They agreed to improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation so as to meet the interests of each country as well as the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The two Deputy Prime Ministers affirmed that they would direct ministries and agencies of the two countries to coordinate closely to prepare well for the 25th Meeting of the Vietnam - Russia Intergovernmental Committee, which is about to take place in 2024.
According to Ha, Vietnamese ministries and agencies are actively working on agreements reached during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s June 2024 State visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
At the 24th meeting, the two sides expressed their desires to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership.
They agreed to effectively implement the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union, creating favourable market access conditions for each other, especially concerning their products with strengths and without direct competition.
In education and training, they consented to early sign a new treaty based on the 2005 agreement, hold the second Vietnam – Russia rectors' forum, and collaborate in the teaching of Vietnamese and Russian.
