Vietnam and RoK to boost labour cooperation
VOV.VN - Labour cooperation will continue to be a major pillar in the relations between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK), affirmed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at a joint labour cooperation forums in Seoul on July 1.
Addressing delegates, Chinh stressed that labour cooperation should be boosted commensurate with the new partnership framework between the two countries. Vietnam and the RoK upgraded their relationship to the comprehensive strategic partnership in 2022.
He proposed that the RoK continue to take the lead in training international human resources, including Vietnamese workers, to promote human resource cooperation, bringing benefits for both sides.
He also proposed that the RoK send highly qualified experts and managers to work in Vietnam; continue to increase the quota to receive Vietnamese workers under the Employment Permit Program (EPS) in shipbuilding, agriculture, and fisheries; and expand new occupations that the RoK needs, such as information technology, nursing and services.
The PM assured that the Vietnamese side would equip workers with necessary knowledge and training to ensure they have professional skills, speak Korean, and understand and comply with the law of their host country so that they find it easy to adapt to local life and work more effectively.
He reminded Vietnamese workers to improve their knowledge, skills and experience, and work hard so that when returning to the homeland, they would become good businessmen, skilled workers, and typical citizens contributing to the development of Vietnam as well as the good relationship between Vietnam and the RoK.
“You are the bridge connecting the two countries and two peoples towards a future of mutual development and prosperity,” noted the PM.
At the forum, delegates shared that over the past 30 years, cooperation between Vietnam and the RoK has reaped outstanding achievements, including cooperation in labour, employment and social security.
Vietnamese workers are described as skilled, diligent, hard-working, and creative, and they comply with labour disciplines and laws of their host country. Many workers get married to Koreans and they consider the RoK as their second homeland.
Delegates also exchanged many issues and stories to improve the quality of labour cooperation, contributing to promoting and cultivating the growing relationship between Vietnam and the RoK.
