Vietnam and Philippines pledge to effectively deploy cooperation mechanisms
VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son and Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Maria Theresa Lazaro agreed to promote the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms between the two countries, during their meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 9.

Meeting on the sidelines of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, both diplomats expressed appreciation for the recent positive developments in the Vietnam–Philippines Strategic Partnership and emphasised the importance of maintaining high-level visits and exchanges between the two countries.
They agreed to further strengthen collaboration in key areas such as defence and security, trade and economy, maritime cooperation, education and training, and people-to-people exchanges.
Son congratulated Lazaro on her recent appointment and expressed confidence that, with her experience and capabilities, she would actively contribute to strengthening the Vietnam–Philippines Strategic Partnership as well as promoting regional and international cooperation.
He affirmed that Vietnam is ready to work closely with the Philippines to effectively implement bilateral agreements for the mutual benefit and in pursuit of a peaceful, stable, resilient, and sustainably developing region.
Lazaro, for her part, highlighted the strong friendship and cooperation that the Philippines and Vietnam have built over nearly five decades. She reaffirmed the Philippines’ high regard for its Strategic Partnership with Vietnam and expressed hope that both countries would sustain the positive momentum in their collaboration across various sectors.
She also stressed the importance of continued close coordination at regional and international forums, particularly within ASEAN, to jointly promote peace, stability, and development in the region.
On this occasion, the two chief diplomats also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern. They reaffirmed their commitment to close coordination and mutual support at regional and international forums such as the United Nations and ASEAN, contributing to peace and stability in the region.
