Philippine coast guard makes its first visit to Vietnam
VOV.VN - On April 14, the BRP Gabriela Silang ship of the Philippine Coast Guard, with 84 officers and crew members led by Captain Eleizer Gonzales Ibarientos, docked at Tien Sa Port to begin a courtesy visit to the central city of Da Nang from April 14 to 17.

An official welcome ceremony for the Philippine Coast Guard was attended by representatives from the Command of the 2nd Regional Maritime Police, the Da Nang City People’s Committee, the Command of Military Region 5, the Command of Da Nang Military Headquarters, the Command of Da Nang Border Guard, the Department of External Affairs, the Naval Region 3 Command, and several other relevant agencies under the Ministry of National Defence.
During the visit, key activities will include a courtesy meeting between the Deputy Commander of the Philippine Coast Guard and the ship’s command group with Da Nang City authorities and the Command of the 2nd Regional Maritime Police; sports exchanges at the Command of the 2nd Regional Maritime Police; and joint training on search and rescue, fire prevention, and firefighting with the Vietnam Coast Guard.
This is the first time a ship from the Philippine Coast Guard has visited Vietnam. The visit holds great significance and is a practical realization of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two forces in January 2024.
Through this visit, the personnel of both forces have the opportunity to interact, learn, share, and exchange experience in law enforcement at sea as a contribution to the enhancement of friendly relations, cooperation, mutual understanding, and trust between the Vietnam Coast Guard and the Philippine Coast Guard in the future.
