Vietnam and Malaysia pledge strong strategic partnership for 2025-2030
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Malaysia will jointly promote the effective implementation of the action plan for their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2025-2030 period, aiming to deepen and expand bilateral relations.

The agreement was reached during a meeting Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on July 6, on the sidelines of the ongoing BRICS Summit.
To achieve the objective, they agreed to strengthen high-level exchanges and cooperation across all channels and continue effective bilateral mechanisms.
Both sides committed to boosting economic, trade, and investment cooperation, focusing on facilitating imports and exports of key sectors such as agriculture, seafood, food products, electronic components, and building materials.
They also agreed to enhance collaboration in agriculture, fisheries, food security, energy, oil and gas, and ASEAN power grid connectivity, while expanding cooperation in the digital economy, circular economy, and green economy.
The Malaysian Prime Minister proposed establishing a joint fisheries cooperation mechanism involving businesses from both countries, with relevant ministries to develop associated agreements.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Prime Minister requested enhanced cooperation in digital transformation, including support for building a national data centre linked with ASEAN’s data infrastructure. He also pledged to ensure Vietnam’s stable rice exports to Malaysia to support its food security.
On this occasion, PM Chinh expressed Vietnam’s full support for Malaysia’s upcoming ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, and PM Ibrahim thanked Vietnam for its close cooperation.
The two leaders also exchanged views on key regional and international issues of common interest, stressing ASEAN’s unity and central role in addressing regional challenges.
