Vietnam and Laos to increase high-level visits
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Laos will increase high-level visits in the time to come to outline orientations for bilateral cooperation.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Lao counterpart Sonexay Siphandone, on the sidelines of the 42nd ASEAN Summit which is getting underway in Indonesia on May 10.
Sonexay thanked Vietnam for its effective support and cooperation for Laos in socio-economic development, and said that the May inauguration and handover of the Nong Khang airport project in Huaphan province and the Friendship Hospital project in Xiangkhouang province demonstrates the solidarity and good friendship between the leaders of the two Parties and two Governments.
The two sides agreed to coordinate and effectively implement high-level agreements and bilateral cooperation mechanisms, jointly make efforts to raise the level of cooperation, promote economic connection, and effective integration, and support each other in socio-economic development.
They vowed to remove obstacles to key cooperation projects, improve the investment environment, and effectively implement agreements reached during Chinh’s recent visit to Laos.
Chinh once again affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to give Laos the highest support in successfully assuming its position as ASEAN Chair in 2024.
Sonexay affirmed that Laos is ready to support Vietnam’s candidacy at the United Nations agencies and international organizations.
During the meeting, Chinh also invited Sonexay to visit Vietnam this year.
