Vietnam and Laos increase corruption fight cooperation
VOV.VN - The Central Inspection Commissions of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party will strengthen bilateral cooperation, including in the field of combating corruption.
The agreement was reached during talks in Hanoi on June 4 between leaders of the two commissions.
Khamphan Phomathat, head of the Lao commission, briefed his host on the results of inspection and examination in anti-corruption activities, as well as disciplinary measures against corrupt officials.
Laos will strengthen inspection activities, enhance communications and publicize the results of inspection to build up public trust in the regime, said Phomathat.
He affirmed that the Lao commission would ramp up close cooperation with the Vietnamese side, including in exchanging delegations at all levels, and sending officials to Vietnam to learn about its experience.
In response, Tran Cam Tu, head of the Vietnamese commission, briefed his guest on Vietnam’s socio-economic development, Vietnam - Laos relations in recent times, and the results of the fight against corruption and negativity in the country.
He said Vietnam has issued many important regulations and instructions on inspection, supervision and discipline to continuously improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the fight against corruption and negativity.
Fields under close scrutiny vary, from the management and use of finance, public assets, land, and mineral resources, to implementation of investment and equipment procurement projects.
To date, Tu said Vietnam has completely handled many complex and long-lasting cases, and strictly disciplined Party organizations and Party members that had committed offences.
He highly appreciated the encouraging results of the implementation of a cooperation document in the 2022-2026 period between the two sides, contributing to strengthening the friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos, as well as between the two Inspection Commissions.
The two sides exchanged in-depth valuable experiences in inspection, supervision, Party discipline and the fight against corruption and negativity, and at the same time agreed on measures to further strengthen cooperation in the coming time.
