According to the Ambassador, the two sides actively exchange high-level delegations, and regularly support each other at regional and international forums such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and the African Union (AU).

Egypt is one of Vietnam’s important trade partners and potential markets in the Middle East – Africa region. Two-way trade turnover between the two countries hit more than US$600 million in 2022, and is expected to rise to US$1 billion in the coming time.

The ambassador held that both Vietnam and Egypt have more room to enhance bilateral cooperation in all areas, especially in economy, trade, logistics, culture, education, tourism and people-to-people exchange, along with cooperation between their localities.

Taking the floor, Egyptian Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Hazem El-Tahry said the two sides are also making efforts to strengthen the legal framework for bilateral cooperation by updating existing agreements and finalising new ones.

El Tahry said that cultural exchange is an important pillar of the Vietnam-Egypt relationship, and suggested that the two countries step up cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchanges to enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples.
