Vietnam and Bulgaria to hold inter-government committee meeting this year
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Bulgaria will convene the 24th session of the inter-government committee this year to work on measures to boost economic-trade-investment cooperation between the two countries.
The agreement was reached during a meeting in Sofia on September 25 between Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov and Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue who is on an official visit to Bulgaria.
The two sides vowed to increase bilateral trade turnover in a balanced and sustainable manner by creating conditions for their goods to access each other’s markets.
They maintained that Vietnam serves as a bridge for Bulgaria to enter the ASEAN market, and vice versa, Bulgaria is the gateway for Vietnam to enter the European market.
The two sides agreed to renew traditional areas of cooperation, including agriculture, food processing, and pharmaceuticals, and at the same time open up new potential areas of cooperation, such as green transformation, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence, and energy transition.
To create a breakthrough in investment, the two sides consented to encourage the establishment of joint ventures to produce products for export to third countries, taking advantage of Bulgaria’s ‘brainpower’ and technology and Vietnam’s abundant labour resources.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue congratulated Bulgaria on its socio-economic development achievements recorded in recent times, contributing to enhancing the country’s position in the world.
He also thanked the National Assembly and the Government of Bulgaria for signing and ratifying the EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and most recently the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), helping to beef up economic, trade and investment ties between the two countries.
Prime Minister Nikolai Denkov highly appreciated Vietnam’s important role and strategic position in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as its dynamic development.
The two leaders also agreed to strengthen Vietnam-Bulgaria cooperation in education - training, culture, tourism, local cooperation and people-to-people exchanges on the basis of the signed agreements.
They said they believe that Vietnam – Bulgaria cooperation will yield greater results in the coming time, meeting the aspirations of the two peoples, and contributing to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world at large.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue is in Sofia on an official visit to Bulgaria from September 23-26.
