US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen begins Vietnam visit

VOV.VN - The Secretary of the Treasury of the US, Janet Yellen, began a three-day working visit to Vietnam on July 19, to discuss bilateral cooperation, as well as other regional issues of mutual concern.

The visit took place at a time when the US and Vietnam are celebrating a decade of their Comprehensive Partnership, which is expected to further promote economic cooperation between the two countries.

The US Secretary is scheduled to have a working session with the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Hong, and meet with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and representatives of many Vietnamese ministries and agencies.

On July 19 afternoon, Yellen is scheduled to make a call at a start-up company in an attempt to promote energy transition cooperation between the US and Vietnam.

She will then meet with economists and businesswomen, and participate in discussions with female economic leaders organized by Hanoi Foreign Trade University.

She is also expected to deliver a speech on the importance of developing a resilient supply chain through efforts to foster partnerships and climate change response with Vietnam.
