US State Secretary Pompeo pays visit to Vietnam
VOV.VN - US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit Vietnam on Oct. 29-30 during his Asia tour, the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry said.
The visit is made at the invitation of the Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.
His visit is to celebrate 25 years of diplomacy between Vietnam and the US, according to the Foreign Ministry.
In a message to Vietnam on its National Day (September 2) this year, Pompeo wrote “In 2020, we commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of US-Vietnam diplomatic relations. The remarkable transformation of our relationship, across trade and investment, security cooperation, and people-to-people ties, is a testament to those who worked to overcome the past and build a better future for both our peoples.”
“We commend Vietnam for its successful Chairmanship of ASEAN in this challenging year, and we appreciate your close coordination in the fight against COVID-19.”
