Top Vietnamese leader sends condolences over Indonesia train accident

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and President To Lam on April 28 sent a message of condolence to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto over a serious train accident in Indonesia.

The accident occurred April 27 in Bekasi on the outskirts of Jakarta, leaving at least 15 people dead and around 80 to 88 others injured.

According to initial reports, a long-distance train, Argo Bromo Anggrek, collided with the rear of a commuter train that had stopped on the tracks. The most severely damaged carriage was designated for women, and all confirmed fatalities were female passengers.

Preliminary findings suggest the incident may have been triggered by a taxi becoming stuck on the railway, forcing one train to make an emergency stop and leading to a chain-reaction collision.

The Indonesian government has launched a full investigation into the cause of the accident.
