Top legislator receives leading Indonesian business groups

VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue who is currently on an official visit to Indonesia received the leaderships of major Indonesian business groups on August 5.

Receiving Budiarsa Sastrawinata, managing director of Ciputra Group, Hue highly appreciated the group’s investment and business activities in Vietnam, noting that Ciputra has so far poured nearly US$3 billion into several fields, especially real estate and social security services throughout the country.

He urged Ciputra to seek to expand its investment to other fields, whilst simultaneously calling on more investors of both two countries to form value chains specifically to boost the socio-economic development of each country.

In response, Sastrawinata thanked Vietnam for supporting his group’s operations, vowing to comply with Vietnamese law. Along with business projects, he said that Ciputra has also engaged in other activities, including sponsoring cultural-sport events, combating the COVID-19 pandemic, and implementing environmentally friendly programmes.

Receiving Michael Jizhar, executive vice president of Modena, Hue welcomed the group’s presence and initial success in the Vietnamese market. He noted that the flourishing of the Vietnam-Indonesia strategic partnership offers businesses of the two countries the chance to further strengthen economic trade and investment ties.

He proposed that Modena should build a factory to produce equipment and household appliances in order to meet the increasing needs of Vietnamese people, as well as those in neighbouring countries.

He also stated that Vietnam has committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050 and is therefore interested in investing in renewable energy.

In response, Jizhar affirmed that Vietnam is an important market for Modena and the group has expanded its operations there since 2018. He revealed the group is studying to build a factory to produce electrical appliances and household appliances in the country.

As a leading brand of home appliances and electronics in Indonesia with products distributed to 92 countries worldwide, Modena is keen to further expand its presence and operations in the Vietnamese market in the field of renewable energy, as well as electric vehicle production.

At another meeting held for the leadership of Traveloka, Hue welcomed the firm’s travel service business in the Vietnamese market, saying tourism is one of the country’s spearhead industries. As such, the National Assembly recently adopted legislation relating to visa policy in a bid to create favourable conditions for the further development of the tourism industry.

Furthermore, the digital economy is expected to be one of the growth drivers of the country over the coming decades, aiming to make up 20% of GDP by 2025, and 30% by 2030. At present, Vietnam is also building a National Data Center to promote this goal.

Appreciating Traveloka’s development strategy in the Vietnamese market, Hue anticipated that the firm would play a pioneering role in cooperation with local businesses in its fields of operation. He affirmed that the National Assembly and Government of Vietnam always accompany and support firms by creating the best possible conditions for businesses to operate effectively in the country.

Albert, co-founder of Traveloka, welcomed the country’s recent amendment to the visa policy which he said demonstrates the country’s firm commitment to supporting the development of the tourism industry.

According to the executive, Vietnam boasts a lot of potential for further tourism development and is currently one of the leading countries in relation to e-commerce growth. He affirmed that Traveloka would continue to promote cooperation activities in the country, especially with regard to the digital transformation of the tourism sector and local tourism marketing on Traveloka’s electronic platforms in an effort to attract further international tourists.
