Top legislator encourages Vietnam-Armenia education cooperation
VOV.VN - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, who is in Armenia for a working visit, urged universities of Vietnam and Armenia to increase cooperation programmes, including academic exchanges and joint research projects, for prosperity of the two countries, during his speech at Yerevan State University on April 4.

In his speech, Man emphasized the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Armenia, highlighting that despite the geographical distance, both countries are closely connected by history, culture, and resilient will. He noted that the two countries maintain strong relations, built on mutual respect, political trust, and a shared desire for cooperation and development aimed at peace and prosperity.
The legislator pointed out that education and training serve as a strong bridge in Vietnam – Armenia relations, acting as a source of nurturing friendship, sharing knowledge, and opening new opportunities for cooperation.
He underscored the importance of higher education in today’s volatile world, marked by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, globalization, and non-traditional security challenges. He stated that higher education is a central factor in the sustainable development of any nation, while facing various challenges such as preserving national identity, international integration, and innovating teaching and research methods. These issues are not only challenges for Vietnam and Armenia, but also common questions for the whole world.
Man shared that Vietnam always regards education as a top national priority and it has therefore dedicated significant attention and resources to the development of education. It is making significant efforts to fundamentally and comprehensively reform its education system, enhance the quality of its human resources, promote scientific research, and deepen international integration.

According to the legislator, many of Vietnam’s leading universities, such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Ho Chi Minh City University of Science, have developed into research universities, promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. These universities have been recognized in prominent regional and global rankings.
Vietnamese universities are increasingly active in participating in the global education network, including research collaboration and academic exchanges with international partners, he said.
He acknowledged that Vietnam and Armenia share many valuable similarities in their journey of educational development. Both countries highly value knowledge, ethics, and talent, with a deep tradition of learning.
Despite enduring difficult historical periods, both countries have remained steadfast in their will and ambition to progress, seeing education as the key to unlocking the future. This commonality provides a solid foundation for both countries to continue collaborating effectively in the field of education, he said.
In the new context, the Chairman proposed strengthening exchanges between leading universities in Vietnam, such as Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University, and their counterparts in Armenia, creating opportunities for younger generations to experience and build lasting cultural and scientific bridges.
He also encouraged the development of joint research programmes and collaborative projects in areas of mutual interest and strength, such as information technology, high-tech, mathematics, and physics. The Chairman emphasized the importance of sharing experiences in higher education management, quality assurance, and developing internationally recognized curricula that meet the labour market’s demands in the digital age.
He encouraged the students at Yerevan State University to make the most of their study time to absorb specialized knowledge, cultivate critical thinking, and enhance their problem-solving skills, while learning more about Vietnam, its people, and the longstanding friendly relations between the two countries.
These students will be the young ambassadors and play a crucial role in strengthening and developing the friendship between Vietnam and Armenia in the future, he said.
Currently, more than 100 Vietnamese students are studying at Yerevan State University.
