Intergovernmental committee to be set up to foster Vietnam – Armenia cooperation
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Armenia should establish an Intergovernmental Committee as soon as possible to promptly address pending issues and to further boost cooperation, especially in economics and trade.

The agreement was reached during talks in Yerevan on April 2 between Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and his Armenian counterpart Mher Grigoryan.
Both Deputy Prime Ministers commended the success of the Vietnam–Armenia business roundtable held earlier the same day, during which both sides examined the possibility of expanding cooperation. They stressed the need to enhance connectivity and explore measures to facilitate business participation in investment and trade promotion activities in both countries.
Ha emphasized that Vietnam and Armenia share cultural and historical similarities and have a solid foundation of cooperation and mutual support. He noted that many Vietnamese officials who studied in Armenia are now actively contributing to bilateral relations.
Providing an update on Vietnam’s recent development, Ha stated that to achieve double-digit economic growth in the coming years, Vietnam must expand and strengthen partnerships with other countries, including Armenia.

Recognizing Armenia’s strengths in agriculture, agro-processing, and the food industry, he pointed out that Vietnam also has competitive advantages in many areas. In his views, the two countries can export goods to each other’s markets without direct competition and can further explore cooperation in promising sectors such as digital transformation, emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, new energy, and clean energy.
Grigoryan concurred with Ha’s assessment and confirmed that Armenian agencies are ready to work with Vietnam to overcome challenges and boost bilateral ties. He stressed the importance of addressing geographical distance by enhancing transportation connectivity and reducing logistics costs to facilitate trade.
Acknowledging Ha’s proposals to remove technical barriers in economic and trade relations between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Grigoryan pledged to make every effort to resolve existing obstacles through bilateral or multilateral negotiations.
The two Deputy PMs discussed key measures to enhance bilateral relations, including strengthening transport and multimodal logistics to facilitate trade between Vietnam, Armenia, and broader markets in Asia, Europe, and globally. They also considered policies to ease visa procedures for citizens traveling between the two countries.
Both host and guest recognized the untapped potential in tourism and education, and emphasized the importance of opening direct flight routes, waiving visa requirements for citizens and businesses, simplifying administrative procedures, and signing an agreement on education and training cooperation.
On this occasion, Ha extended an invitation to Grigoryan to visit Vietnam, and the invitation was accepted with pleasure.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha is joining a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on a working visit to Armenia at the invitation of Armenia National Assembly President Alen Simonyan.
