The King and Queen of Belgium visit Ho Chi Minh City
VOV.VN - King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on April 2 evening, continuing their state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of President Luong Cuong and his spouse.

They were welcomed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport by Nguyen Van Dung, vice chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.
During their stay in the city from April 2 to 4, King Philippe is scheduled to hold a meeting with Nguyen Van Nen, secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
The King and the Queen will attend several important events and visit cultural and historical sites associated with the city’s development.
Ho Chi Minh City is the King and the Queen’s last stopover following their stay in Hanoi capital, Hai Phong city and Quang Ninh province.
Ho Chi Minh City, the most populous and biggest financial hub in Vietnam, has established and developed close cooperation with Belgium and its regions, including Flanders and Wallonia, in various fields.
In 2016, Ho Chi Minh City and East Flanders signed a Memorandum of Understanding on agricultural cooperation for the 2016-2020 period, focusing on human resource training and technology transfer, particularly in breeding high-quality cattle and crops, as well as post-harvest processing and packaging.
While meeting with Jan Jambon, Minister-President of the Government of Flanders in September 2023, the leadership of Ho Chi Minh City affirmed that the city welcomes Flanders-based businesses to invest in fields such as port infrastructure development, clean energy, and green urban areas.
In 2020, Belgium inaugurated its Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and supporting Belgian citizens in southern Vietnam.
