Thai diplomatic chief Parnpree Badiddha-Nukara visits Vietnam this week
VOV.VN - Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand Parnpree Badiddha-Nukara is scheduled to pay an official visit to Vietnam on October 25-26 at the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son.
The visit takes place at a time when the Vietnam – Thailand enhanced strategic partnership is developing strongly and substantially through regular exchanges of visits and cooperation mechanisms. Both countries are actively implementing a programme of action to realise their enhanced strategic partnership. They are also organizing activities to mark 10 years of their strategic partnership this year.
Thailand is currently Vietnam’s largest trading partner in ASEAN the ninth largest in the world. Two-way trade turnover last year hit US$21.6 billion, representing an increase of 15.2% year on year. It is Vietnam’s ninth largest investor among 139 countries and territories pouring capital into the country, with 691 valid projects valued at more than US$13 billion.
The two countries effectively maintain cooperation mechanisms in the fields of defense-security, transnational crime prevention, education - training, labour, tourism, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
They also coordinate closely at multilateral forums such as the United Nations, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and Mekong sub-region.
Parnpree’s visit is to consolidate cooperative relations between the two countries and two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, alongside exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
