In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Dung emphasised that APEC 2027 is a vital political and diplomatic event for Vietnam, offering the country a strategic opportunity to demonstrate its proactive and responsible role in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), while strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations with member economies.

With its strategic location at the heart of the Asia-Pacific, deep-water port, modern international airport, and favourable natural conditions, Phu Quoc, he said, has been selected as the host for this high-level summit.

The projects focus on transport infrastructure, water supply and drainage, waste treatment, underground utility systems, resettlement, digital transformation and smart urban monitoring, as well as the construction of a conference center for APEC 2027. These are key areas aimed at supporting the organisation of the APEC Leaders’ Week and promoting the long-term sustainable development of the Phu Quoc Special Zone.

The Deputy Prime Minister called on relevant ministries, An Giang province, and investors to work with urgency and discipline, aiming to complete the projects 3–6 months ahead of schedule while ensuring high standards and safety. He also stressed the need for transparency and anti-corruption, urging strong supervision to prevent group interests and inefficiencies.

The province is tasked with finalising all investment procedures and breaking ground on all remaining projects by October 2025. Social welfare and resettlement are also priorities, ensuring affected residents have equal or better living conditions after relocation.

Bui Thanh Trung, chairman of Sun Group – Southern Region, affirmed the company’s commitment to mobilizing its full resources and expertise to ensure international standards, fast progress, and outstanding quality. The projects are not only for APEC 2027 but are also expected to bring long-term value and sustainable development to the region, he said.
