State President suggests fostering Vietnam – Japan extensive partnership
VOV.VN - State President Vo Van Thuong expressed Vietnam’s desires to forge the extensive strategic partnership with Japan, during his reception for President of the House of Councilors of Japan Otsuji Hidehisa in Hanoi on September 6.
He noted with satisfaction the important achievements the two countries have recorded over the years, saying mutual trust and understanding has been promoted, creating a good foundation to further deploy bilateral cooperation programmes and projects.
The State President highly appreciated Japan’s political parties deepening cooperative relations with Vietnam as evidenced through the current Vietnam visit by the delegation of Japanese Senators, with members representing different Japanese parties.
On economic-trade-investment cooperation, Japan always holds the leading position for Vietnam, said Thuong, adding people-to-people exchanges, and educational, scientific and cultural cooperation have also yielded good results.
To further take bilateral relations to new heights on the back of 50 years of their diplomacy this year, he said that the two countries should increase reciprocal visits through different channels and at all levels, including between their parliamentary agencies.
The two sides should aim for greater cooperation to bring their relations to new heights in the future, he suggested.
President Otsuji Hidehisa for his part affirmed that Japan attaches importance to strengthening cooperative relations with Vietnam.
He appreciated the long-standing and close links between Vietnam and Japan, and expected that based on shared similarities, the two countries would ramp up cooperation in all fields, saying parliamentary cooperation is completely appropriate and necessary in the context of the world facing numerous challenges.
Emphasizing that 2023 is a special year with many important historical events in the two countries’ diplomatic relations, Otsuji expressed hope that his delegation’s visit would make an effective contribution to promoting good cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.
