State President pushes for Vietnam – RoK media cooperation
VOV.VN - Vietnam and the Republic of Korea should increase media cooperation to popularize their countries’ images and contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries, said State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Receiving Seong Ghi-hong, president and CEO of Yonhap News Agency in Hanoi on December 14, Phuc hailed the fruitful cooperation between Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Yonhap News Agency in recent times, which he said helped promote mutual understanding and cultural exchanges between the two peoples.
Such cooperation has contributed to popularizing the two countries’ images, tourism development potential and investment cooperation opportunities, he said.
Phuc asked Yonhap to actively support VNA in its professional activities to turn it into a major news agency regionally and internationally.
He expressed his belief the two news agencies would do their jobs well, making an even more important contribution to fostering the Vietnam-RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Seong, for his part, assured his host that the two news agencies would strengthen coordination of activities against fake news and malicious information. At the same time, he said the two sides would actively implement cooperation programmes to further promote the Vietnam-Korea cooperation in all areas of social life.
Seong Ghi-hong is in Hanoi for a visit to Vietnam. He on December 14 held talks with VNA general secretary Vu Viet Trang, and they both inaugurated a photo exhibition marking 30 years of diplomacy between Vietnam and the RoK in Hanoi.
