State President hosts outgoing Bulgarian Ambassador
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Bulgaria should increase visit exchanges at all levels to ramp up future cooperation, State President Vo Van Thuong told outgoing ambassador of Bulgaria Marinela Petkova, at a reception in Hanoi on June 9.
He highlighted the strong growth in bilateral trade ties but said the results have yet to match the two sides’ potential. He suggested that the two sides soon hold the 24th session of the Vietnam - Bulgaria Intergovernmental Committee for economic, trade and scientific cooperation this year.
He also proposed that Bulgaria soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), creating conditions for the business community and investors of the EU, Bulgaria and Vietnam to engage more actively in each other’s markets.
At the same time, he asked the two sides to further coordinate and support each other at international forums.
He thanked Bulgaria for assisting Vietnamese people to live, study and work stably in their host country, and suggested the two sides promote people-to-people exchanges, as well as cooperation in tourism.
The President on this occasion congratulated the ambassador on fulfilling duties during her working term in Vietnam. He also conveyed his invitation to the Bulgarian President to soon visit Vietnam.
Ambassador Marinela Petkova for her part affirmed Bulgaria always attaches importance to the traditional friendship relationship with Vietnam, and wishes to enhance multifaceted cooperation with the Southeast Asian nation.
She thanked the Vietnamese government, ministries and localities for supporting her during her working term in Vietnam, and vowed to cement bilateral relations in whatever position she will hold in future.
The Ambassador also conveyed the invitation of the Bulgarian President to President Vo Van Thuong to visit Bulgaria at an appropriate time.
