Singapore PM Lawrence Wong begins Vietnam visit today
VOV.VN - Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his spouse are scheduled to begin a two-day official visit to Vietnam on March 25 at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính and his spouse.

The visit comes shortly after the two countries recently upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during General Secretary To Lam’s recent state visit to Singapore.
This is Wong’s first visit to Vietnam which is expected to further enhance the strong ties between Vietnam and Singapore and advance the implementation of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, bringing concrete and practical benefits to both states and the broader region.
Vietnam and Singapore have effectively implemented various cooperation mechanisms, including the Annual Meeting between the two Prime Ministers, the Vietnam-Singapore Economic Connectivity Ministerial Meeting, Political Consultations at the Deputy Minister level, Policy Dialogue on National Defense at the Deputy Minister level, and the Annual Deputy Ministerial Conference on Public Security.
Singapore is one of Vietnam’s most important economic partners. A symbol of successful economic collaboration between the two countries is the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP). Currently, there are 18 VSIP projects across 13 provinces and cities, attracting over US$18.7 billion in investment and creating jobs for more than 300,000 workers.
In 2024, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Singapore witnessed robust growth, reaching US$10.3 billion, up 14.7% compared to 2023.
Singapore remains the largest ASEAN investor in Vietnam and ranks second among 147 countries and territories investing in the country, with 3,915 valid projects and total registered capital exceeding US$83 billion. Meanwhile, Vietnam has so far invested in 180 projects in Singapore with total registered capital of over US$668.4 million.
During his official visit, the Singaporean Prime Minister is scheduled to hold talks with the Vietnamese Prime Minister and meet with other senior leaders of Vietnam.
The two countries are expected to sign cooperation agreements across various fields.
