Russia extends congratulations to Vietnam on 50 years of national reunification
VOV.VN - The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement praising the resilience and spirit of the Vietnamese people in their historic struggle for national independence on the occasion of Vietnam’s 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – 2025).

In a recently released statement, spokesperson Maria Zakharova recalled history, highlighting that after Vietnam declared independence in September 1945, France refused to recognise it, leading to years of war until its defeat in 1954. The United States then intervened, resulting in the longest and bloodiest armed conflict since World War II.
The US military dropped an enormous volume of bombs across Vietnam and deployed weapons such as napalm and Agent Orange - the consequences of which continue to impact Vietnamese citizens today.
Despite overwhelming military pressure, the Vietnamese people showed extraordinary courage, ultimately achieving a decisive victory, safeguarding their sovereignty, and preserving their national identity.
Russia takes pride in having contributed significantly to Vietnam’s victory and post-war reconstruction efforts, Zakharova said in the statement.
Russia warmly congratulates Vietnam on this important milestone, and it congratulates Vietnam on its remarkable socio-economic development achievements as well as its growing standing in the international arena.
Russia reaffirms its commitment to further strengthening its mutually beneficial partnership across various fields with Vietnam, reads the statement.
