During the three-day visit, Prime Minister Chinh held a meeting with the Emir of Kuwait, conducted talks with the Kuwaiti Prime Minister, met with the Crown Prince, and witnessed the signing of cooperation documents.
At these meetings and talks, the Kuwaiti leaders praised Vietnam’s impressive development achievements in recent years and expressed confidence that Vietnam, with its increasingly prominent international position, would continue to play an active role in promoting peace, cooperation, and development in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.
Notably, during the talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah, the two leaders agreed to upgrade bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership, opening new opportunities for cooperation.
Building on the newly enhanced Strategic Partnership framework, the visit underscored a shared commitment to enhance efficiency and expand operations at the Nghi Son Refinery, a key symbol of strategic cooperation and a vital contributor to energy security for both countries.
The leaders also discussed the promotion of the Kuwait Investment Authority and Kuwaiti investors to implement major strategic projects in Vietnam, as well as exploring investment in agricultural production facilities in Vietnam to export to Kuwait.
Cooperation will also be expanded into emerging sectors such as science and technology, digital transformation, innovation, cybersecurity, renewable energy, education and training, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
While staying in Kuwait, the Prime Minister, his spouse, and the delegation also met with staff at the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Kuwait, engaged with major Kuwaiti economic groups, delivered policy remarks, and visited key economic and cultural sites.
Following the state visit to Kuwait, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his spouse, along with the delegation, will proceed to an official visit to Algeria at the invitation of Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb.
