President Xi Jinping’s Vietnam visit grabs Chinese headlines

VOV.VN - Major media agencies of China have given extensive coverage of Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping’s State visit to Vietnam over the past two days.

Highlighting the high-level talks in Hanoi on December 12 between the two Party General Secretaries, China Central Television quoted Xi saying that returning to Hanoi after six years he felt the deep friendship of the Party, Government and people of Vietnam, and then thanked them for their warm welcome and thoughtful arrangements for his visit.

In their news coverage provided by China’s Xinhua News Agency and People’s Daily, Xi reaffirmed the close bond between Vietnam and China as comrades and brothers, saying China always views its relations with Vietnam from a strategic height and long-term perspective.

The Chinese President expressed his belief that with the joint efforts of both sides, the China-Vietnam relations would enter a new phase with higher political trust, more solid security cooperation, deeper mutually beneficial cooperation, stronger popular support, closer multilateral coordination, and better handling of differences. The two countries’ cause of building socialism would continue to reap new achievements and make new contributions to the stability, development and prosperity of the region and the wider world.

Xi affirmed that China is ready to share its modernization opportunities and seek common development with Vietnam. He said he believes that bilateral cooperation needs to focus more on people’s livelihood-targeted areas such as agriculture, education and health; strengthen cooperation among youths, in tourism, and among localities; and improve people’s understanding about the traditional friendship and relationship between the two countries.

Chinese media agencies also highlighted the outcome of the talks, saying China and Vietnam agreed to issue a joint statement on further deepening and elevating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

They also ran coverage of the signing of a cooperation document between Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and China Media Group (CMG) and a broadcast programme ‘Vietnam - China Connection’ on VTC Digital Television, an arm of VOV. They affirmed that such cooperation is to improve Vietnamese audiences’ understanding of China and promote connections between the people of both sides.
