President Luong Cuong meets with US-APEC Business Coalition executives
VOV.VN - Vietnamese President Luong Cuong met with a delegation of the US – APEC Business Coalition in Lima, Peru, on November 14 (local time) on the sidelines of the 2024 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.
During the meeting, the businesses expressed their appreciation for Vietnam’s efforts in consulting with the business community, including foreign companies such as those from the US, on recently promulgated or draft laws, describing the move as a commendable sign of collaboration and openness in creating a better business environment in the country.
They noted that the draft laws or newly promulgated laws aim to benefit the people and facilitate business operations. Many issues are being actively pursued by the government, with clear roadmaps and policies for business activities.
The business representatives also committed to continuing to expand production and operations, and provide specific recommendations for industries in which they operate in Vietnam, such as pharmaceuticals, insurance, digital transformation, finance, and banking.
Speaking at the meeting, President Luong Cuong emphasized that cooperation between Vietnam and the United States has continually expanded and developed significantly over nearly three decades of normalized relations and more than a year since the upgrade of their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The President stated that Vietnam regards the US as a strategically important partner and believes in the development opportunities arising from their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
This partnership will fulfill the aspirations of the two countries’ people for a bright and dynamic future, contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and around the world, he said.
According to the President, Vietnam is entering a new era with great potential and will continue to implement important reforms, enhance international integration, and promote sustainable development. The country is continuously improving its business and investment environment in a clear, transparent, and stable direction, aligned with international practices to attract foreign investors, including American businesses, with a primary focus on accelerating comprehensive reforms, protecting business interests, and developing new economic drivers.
In the context of the global economic transition, he said technology and sustainable development will be two core factors shaping the future of the global economy. He therefore hoped that Vietnam would closely cooperate with US businesses and the APEC region in high-tech fields and innovation, renewable energy, and green development.
In his opinions, Vietnam welcomes US companies investing in areas such as artificial intelligence, big data, biotechnology, establishing research and development centers, and financial technology. To achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, it has introduced policies to encourage and attract investments in renewable energy, including solar energy, wind energy, and energy storage technologies.
The President expressed confidence that, with a spirit of cooperation and belief in mutual development potential, the economic relationship between Vietnam and US businesses, as well as the APEC region, will continue to grow stronger.
