President Luong Cuong concludes State visit to Angola
VOV.VN - A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by President Luong Cuong and his spouse left Luanda on August 8, successfully concluding their State visit to Angola at the invitation of President Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco and his spouse.

President Cuong and his entourage were seen off at Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs Tete Antonio, Angolan Ambassador to Vietnam Fernando Miguel, Governor of Luanda Luis Manuel da Fonseca and Director-General of State Protocol Jorge Pataca. Vietnamese Ambassador to Angola Duong Chinh Chuc and staff of the Embassy were also on hand.
During the visit, President Cuong held talks with President Lourenco and met with National Assembly Speaker Carolina Cerqueira. He also met with leaders of the People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and attended a ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Notably, at a special plenary session of the Angolan National Assembly, the President delivered an important policy speech, affirming Vietnam’s aspiration to contribute more to global politics, the world economy, and human civilization, while outlining orientations to promote the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries. The two sides also issued a Joint Statement, expressing their commitment to opening a new phase of bilateral cooperation.
The leaders of both countries affirmed that the brotherly and close friendship between Vietnam and Angola is a precious shared asset and a solid foundation for strengthening political trust, mutual support between the two Parties and States, as well as solidarity and mutual understanding between their peoples.
They shared a common understanding of the importance of elevating cooperation in trade, investment, defense, and security, while promoting and diversifying traditional areas of collaboration such as medical expertise, education, and agriculture.
In his policy speech at the Angolan National Assembly, the President outlined orientations for future cooperation, aiming to build a “partnership for joint development” and make Vietnam–Angola relations a model for South–South cooperation.
Over the past 50 years since establishing diplomatic relations, Vietnam and Angola have stood the test of time, consistently demonstrating steadfast solidarity and loyalty. This State visit provides a strong foundation for the two countries to continue developing their relationship in a stable and sustainable manner, for the benefit of their peoples, and for peace, stability, and prosperity in their respective regions and around the world.
