Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warmly welcomed in Hanoi on Vietnam visit
VOV.VN - Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung hosted an official welcoming ceremony for Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Hanoi on October 26, during the latter’s official visit to Vietnam from October 24 to 26.
The visit comes as Vietnam and Poland seek to build on their longstanding friendship, expand economic and trade ties, and explore new areas of cooperation. It marks Prime Minister Tusk’s first official visit to Vietnam during his current term as the head of the Polish government and his return to the country 16 years after his 2010 visit.
Vietnam and Poland established diplomatic relations on February 4, 1950. Building on their longstanding friendship, the two countries have expanded cooperation in a range of areas, including trade, education, science and technology, and culture. Poland is now one of Vietnam’s important trading partners in Central and Eastern Europe. Bilateral trade exceeded US$2.6 billion in the first seven months of 2026, up 17% year on year.
Following the welcoming ceremony, Prime Minister Donald Tusk was scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and meet other senior Vietnamese leaders, including General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam, and National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man. The two sides are expected to discuss bilateral relations, future cooperation priorities and issues of mutual interest.
Before arriving in Hanoi, Prime Minister Tusk visited Da Nang and Hoi An Ancient Town as part of his trip. While staying there, he paid tribute to Polish architect Kazimierz Kwiatkowski, whose work made important contributions to the preservation of Hoi An Ancient Town and the My Son Sanctuary.
